In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the process of crafting a custom animated YouTube subscribe button using Canva and CapCut. And the best part? It won't cost you a dime, unless you do decide to purchase my Canva template design linked above… for that I thank you!
Step 1: Designing Custom CTAs with Canva using Green Screen Design
Start by heading over to Canva and selecting the "video doc-type" with dimensions of 1920px by 1080px, the standard aspect ratio for YouTube videos. Turn the background image green, then let your creativity flow as you design your Subscribe call-to-action. Add your profile picture, text, colors, and other elements, and don't forget to include simple animations to make it pop.
Once you're satisfied with your animated design, export it as an MP4 video file.
Step 2: Importing and Editing with CapCut
Next up, fire up CapCut and import your Canva creation directly into the video editing timeline. Enhance your creation by adding suitable sound effects to elevate its overall quality. Then, utilize the Chroma Key tool to seamlessly remove the green screen background. With the background gone, your custom CTA is ready to be integrated into your videos within the same CapCut project timeline.
As a bonus tip, I reveal a ninja trick towards the end of my video tutorial to streamline future editing processes in CapCut since unfortunately, CapCut doesn't support exporting videos with transparent backgrounds.
However, if you're an Adobe Premiere Pro user, I recommend checking out my video HERE (timestamp - 32:03) to learn how to export videos with a transparent background – that way you can use your subscribe CTA on different video projects!
Happy Youtube’ing and I wish you many Subscribers!
